Journal - January 7th, 2018
For New Year's eve 2018, we invited some friends over to our house for an oil fondue. The meats we had were raw lamb, beef, and pork. There were shrimp, scallops, squid and salmon to choose from too. We had asparagus, mushrooms, broccoli, onions, zucchini, and eggplant for our vegetables. On the side we had chips, nuts, Cheddar, cream cheese, and Gouda. We had nuggets and Mozzarella cheese sticks for people to eat if they didn't want to cook in the oil. We also had crackers and lots of dips. It was a real feast and it was good! After we ate dinner, we played games till midnight and then went to bed.
Each year our parents give us presents for a new year gift. This year we got a computer to share and cowboy boots for each kid. On the computer we each have our own account that we can set up how we like so it's like we have our very own computer that we can play games on and do other stuff.

Art Projects
This year I am doing Art in school. The first project I did was called Pinprick Art. It is when you poke a needle into a drawing then hold it up to the light and it will show the outline made up of tiny holes. The first picture I drew was a tugboat, the second one was a fire truck.
My next project was Pilgrim Puppets made out of paper sacks. My little sister did this project with me and it was fun!
What we did was glue pictures that we cut out and colored onto the paper sacks.
Then I made an art project about primary colors while we talked about them. Primary colors are blue, yellow and red. They are different because you can't make them by mixing other colors.
My 4th project was to decorate a Thanksgiving Turkey. It was made by gluing beans and seeds to a paper turkey. The seeds we used were pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds and the beans were small red beans, kidney beans and pinto beans. We were supposed to use lima beens too, but we did not have any so we used small pumpkin seeds instead.

Cross Country Race 1
Yesterday I went to the Cross Country meet. It was for grades 3-7 and there were two races for each grade. It was raining all day, but it stopped in time for the races. Just as the last race ran, it started to rain again.
During my race, I got a cramp in my side but I still got 28th place! There were kids there from at least 10 other schools and I raced against almost 60 other boys my age. I thought I was not going to make it but I did and I'm glad that I went. It was a lot of fun.

Starting Grade 3!
This year I am getting home schooled. I am the first homeschooler in my family. And I want to make 3 goals this year.
1. I want to be a good student this year and not play around when I am supposed to be working.
2. I want to focus on my work and not get distracted this year.
3. I want to listen the first time I am told.
